DID YOU KNOW?
There is a 60-second "cool down" period for the Virtual Rails Alert. Meaning once an alert is triggered, subsequent alarms can not sound until a full 60 seconds has passed. However, the movement detection and alarm triggers will still be cataloged in the system logs during that time. In response to an alarm, it is advised to continue visualization of the patient until their intentions are clear, and no harm is anticipated.
SAFETY TECH SPOTLIGHT
Jessica Colas has been a patient safety technician at Pine Ridge Physicians Regional, in Naples, FL. for about a year. She supports the nursing department by closely monitoring patients on each floor.
She became a patient safety technician to help others. In her role, she notifies nurses and staff when a patient, or even a visitor, is at risk. She enjoys being part of the team by helping others stay safe.
“It is rewarding to prevent a fall or injury from occurring,” says Jessica.
Jessica’s advice to other safety technicians is the keep their eyes moving and learn the behaviors of the patients, getting to know their actions makes it easier to see when they might try to get up. She says this job moves fast and will keep you on the edge of your seat.
When she isn’t watching over the patients at Pine Ridge, Jessica likes to learn new things and find new hobbies that are hands-on. She enjoys sketching for fun because it is relaxing, and the finished product always look awesome!

"The Safety Technician is the first line of defense for patient falls and safety events.”

CareView Spotlight
Erick Marquez, CareView Technical Support Agent, has worked at CareView for 6 years. He assists callers in reporting issues regarding the CareView system and updates tickets accordingly for the technical operations and/or field support teams’ involvement.
His favorite memory from work was assisting hospital staff to find out why a camera was displaying a yellow screen. It turned out to be a smiley face balloon blocking the camera from viewing the patient.
One of the most common questions Erick gets asked is how to remove/disable Nurse Privacy mode, usually because it is not a commonly used feature, and they discovered it by accident.
The thing he likes most about his job is the opportunity to assist field techs and hospital staff in resolving issues that lead to patient safety. He says, “it feels great to know that I was able to help.”
Erick was born in Juarez, Mexico but raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, attending school in Coppell.
When he is busy working, Erick enjoys working out and spending time with his “wonderful” wife. They like to go to arcades, shopping, on fun trips, and live music performances. Erick also loves to drum, do film and videography, and play team sports.
